Exclusive for our VIPs, here’s our original ending to Episode 1.
This what was originally scripted. But we weren’t sure if we should end our first episode with a fart joke. There were a few variations filmed – which was fun for the actors, but confusing in the edit. This is our second favourite – after the hypochondria/belch combo we ended up with.
You also see that Rachel was originally in this scene. In the script she wasn’t, but we wanted to keep the audience with her as much as possible, and not to lose the convention of her looking at the camera. Plus we liked the idea she’d be here, silently, slightly shy and unsure how to react to her new flatmates’ banter.
However, because it was a last minute addition, we ending up getting the costume confused, and the first edit had her running out of the kitchen in her pijamas to appear upstairs back in her work clothes a second later.
So, she had to go. Now, next time you watch the actual episode, you’ll see Claire and Annie’s eyeline wondering to where Rachel should be. Now you know why…
